Don’t Believe the Doom and Gloom!
We are living in prophetic times…and what is stamped on this generation is not judgment, but mercy and grace.
As I’m writing this, the stock market has fallen 2,000 points in just a few days. The airwaves are full of terrible news—stock markets are plummeting, riots are breaking out, terrorism attacks are happening, and European nations have potential financial default on the horizon. We can even turn on Christian television programs and see preachers selling food rations for what they are predicting as a cataclysmic event. Prophets are even prophesying doom and gloom.
But don’t be so hasty to believe such things that bring fear into your heart or mind! This is not God speaking to us.
First Corinthians 14:3 says, “But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.”
God uses prophecy to strengthen, encourage and bring comfort—not fear. If you happen to be one of those Christians who has fallen prey to doom and gloom prophecies, I have good news for you, today.
Isaiah 60:2 says,
“For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people.”
You may say, “See Scott, even God says darkness on the people.”
Hold on, because God is not declaring that over you and me. Notice the part He does prophecy over us:
“But the Lord will arise over you and His glory will be seen upon you.”
Although darkness will envelope the world, and the unbeliever’s life, the Lord will rise over us as believers, and mercy and grace will abound in our lives.
Yes, it’s getting darker and darker out there, but the path of the righteous is getting brighter and brighter until the perfect day, which is when Jesus returns (Proverbs 4:18).
Our light is growing, abounding and increasing.
There is an expiration date on this prophecy. It’s the 2nd coming of Christ. But we have nothing to be concerned about, for as the Lord continues to arise over us, there is safety and protection through His mercy and grace.
Over the years, there have been many prophecy disasters about the United States. As I’ve listened, I’ve purposefully stood against them in prayer and watched those things not materialize or manifest. God hasn’t given us prophecy to frighten us, because God hasn’t given us a spirit of fear.
He gives us the spirit of power, the spirit of love, and the spirit of soundness of mind (2 Timothy 1:7). So the next time you hear the gloom and doom prophets, remember, God is rising upon us releasing His mercy and grace, to strengthen us, encourage us and comfort His people.
In what area of your life today do you need His mercy and grace? It’s available. He is releasing it now. He wants to strengthen you, encourage you and comfort you. I don’t care what you’ve done, or what kind of fix you’re in—even if it is of your own making—God has more than enough mercy and grace to help you.
