Breaking Curses

Pastors, I pray for you often…
Because of the monumental assignment God has placed on your life.

I pray that the 7 spirits of God [Isaiah 11] are working in you and your ministry—
That the “spirit of wisdom” is directing your decisions about people and positions.

Certainly people are in God’s heart and ours.
But only wisdom, like Solomon, will help us navigate through these complex times.

You can do all things through Christ who gives you strength!
                                                [Philippians 4:13]

Recently, I taught a series from [Proverbs 18:21].
You know it, Death and life are in the power of the tongue…

“Words have power”.

As I was studying this out, the Lord reminded me of the spies sent out by Moses in [Numbers 13].

Considering their words, because of their evil report the spies defiled the whole camp…

“A few men corrupted the faith of millions”.

I’ve seen this happen so many times I can’t count them all, especially by those who maintain an attitude of “spiritual superiority”.

Words spoken by leaders, prayer intercessors, elders, or a praise team member can work in much the same way as these “cynical spies”.

I recently heard a true story about a church that had gone through strife, so the staff, leadership, elders, and a portion of the congregation left (my heart always goes out to pastors, who suffer these experiences).  This was not a moral, integrity, or word issue—just people at odds with the vision.

One of the elders received a word from God that the pastor was going the wrong direction and they were missing God.  This person had been trusted and given a voice in the church, but stepped out of his position.  He believed he heard from God and had more vision for the church than his pastor.

The role of intercessor, elder, leader, and supporter is to help birth the vision and facilitate it.

Their words began to produce curses on that pastor.

Pastor,

One of the ways you know Satan is attacking you is; you begin to sense heaviness, bondage, discouragement when ministering.  There will be confusion in your thought life and you may experience a lack of clear-cut direction.

If this has happened to you or is happening, you’ll know it.

People are assaulting you with their words—this produces curses and false bindings.  [Galatians 5:20] lists this as witchcraft (the works of the flesh).

People who pray and talk this way, literally release psychic prayers out of their human mind and not ones prayed from the mind of Christ.  (Psychics and witches call this “mind control”.)

Throughout my many years in ministry, I have seen many variations of witchcraft—praying manipulation and control working through Christians—[Revelation 12:10] speaks of the accuser of the brethren as being the devil who gives influence over Christians to defile Christians and Christian leaders.

When this happens, conversations like this occur;

“Pastor means well, but I’ve been praying and I think he can’t see what God really wants to do and what the people really need from God.”

“Now, if I were the pastor, I’d do this, I’d do that.” 

This sounds like Absalom, who said to God’s people;
“If I were king, I would treat you right.”—undermining King David, his father.  Some call this an “Absalom spirit”, which has caused many problems and splits in the church.  Their members seek vision and guidance from someone else other than their pastor (read Absalom’s journey).  (This person typically loves God, has a sincere pursuit of the Lord and doesn’t even know they are like Saul of Tarsus, killing the saints, God’s chosen leaders, with their selfishness and words.)

When someone is praying out of their mind, will, their emotions, they are releasing tremendous psychic powers (even demonic forces can be working with them).

In my own ministry, there have been those who have walked away and have released psychic prayers.  I had to ask the Lord what to do…
