King David is one of the best examples of keeping a thankful heart unto God. Throughout the Psalms, David didn’t just think about God’s goodness, he talked about it and declared it continually out of his mouth. What was the point?  He was reminding himself of God’s blessing in his life and all that God had delivered him from.  He made a decision to bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.  I will remember Your wonders of old. I will also meditate on all Your work, And talk of Your deeds.

His gratefulness to God spilled out of his heart and poured out of his mouth.   He reminded himself of the character and nature of God so frequently that he no longer thought about how big his problems were, but instead realized how big his God was.

It’s the same with us today – having a thankful heart is powerful and has the ability to literally change our thinking and emotions. The Apostle Paul told us;  Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.3  As you follow David’s example, your emotions and feelings change about any difficulties you’re facing. As gratitude comes from your lips, you literally change the atmosphere in which you live—you change your world!

Make Today’s Word A Reality
Pray that God would help you to continually express a heart of thanksgiving. Ask the Lord to bring to your remembrance challenges you’ve faced and with His help, you’ve overcome. Take time to thank Him for what He’s doing today and tomorrow on your behalf. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you realize how small your problems are compared to how big God is.
